“She made me feel comfortable from the time I walked in the door until I left!”

Amber W.

“Jess was absolutely fabulous to work with. She sat down and had a conversation about what I was looking for. We discussed the difference between filler and a lip flip. She made me feel comfortable from the time I walked in the door until I left. She’s a wealth of knowledge and wasn’t pushy on other services. I will definitely be back in the future.”

“I didn’t think there was any possibility of my filler being fixed but she works miracles!”

- Cadence S

"I went to Jess with super super botched lip filler from somewhere else. I didn’t think there was any possibility of my filler being fixed but she works miracles! She not only dissolved the filler I had but managed to refill them to what I initially wanted. She is kind, talented, and non judgmental. 10/10 would recommend!"

“My lips are so lucious, dangit!”

-  Ruby

“Still amazed at how great my lips turned out! Amazing facility and Jessica took care of me from start to finish - SO talented and she had recommendations that equaled a great result. My new lips are so luscious, dangit! Thank you again and see you next time <3”

What are dermal fillers? How do they work?

As we age, our faces naturally lose volume (most commonly in the cheeks, lips, temples, and under the eyes) while the skin loses elasticity, causing deeper lines to form. Dermal fillers work by replenishing the lost volume and adding structure where it's needed with hyaluronic acid, a substance your body produces naturally.

At Modern Medspa, we use trusted filler collections such as Juvéderm®, Restylane®, and other advanced hyaluronic acid fillers chosen based on your goals and anatomy. When combined with an artistic eye, fillers can be placed for subtle, refreshed results for a youthful look. It can also be used to create a more balanced and symmetrical appearance.

Dermal Fillers Before and Afters

What to Expect at your Face or Lip Filler Appointment

A topical numbing cream may be applied before treatment. Filler is placed using a fine needle or cannula (a blunt, flexible tool alternative to needles). Most patients describe it as mild pressure or a small pinch. We’ll guide you through each step and keep you comfortable throughout treatment.

AFTER

Some swelling and bruising are normal and typically resolve within one to two weeks.

Avoid strenuous exercise, heat, and touching the treated areas for 24–48 hours. No flying for two weeks. Final results are visible once swelling fully subsides.

Your provider will follow up after treatment and is always here if questions come up during healing.

BEFORE

Your provider will assess your facial anatomy, listen to your goals, and recommend the right filler and placement plan for you. To minimize bruising, avoid blood thinners like aspirin, ibuprofen, and alcohol for 24–48 hours before your appointment.

DURING

We get feeling worried about being “overdone” or filler migration. That’s why we prioritize balance, subtle enhancement, and results that look refreshed (never obvious). Because more product doesn’t automatically mean better results. The right plan, honest guidance, and skilled placement are what really make the difference!

Why Choose Modern Medspa for Face & Lip Filler in New Hampshire

Great filler results are equal parts medical expertise and artistic judgment. At Modern Medspa, we’re experts at both. Every treatment begins with a thoughtful understanding of facial anatomy, proportion, and structure. We consider how your features work together, how your face naturally moves, and how the aging process is showing up for you before recommending a single syringe.

How long does dermal filler last? +

The visible results of filler last 9-12 months. However, recent studies and imaging show that filler can stay in the body much longer.

How should I prepare for my dermal filler appointment? +

Please refrain from drinking alcohol, taking ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, and Vitamin E one week prior to your appointment.

We recommend waiting two weeks after filler injections before you fly on an airplane. Please schedule your appointment accordingly if you plan on traveling.

What are the risks of receiving dermal filler injections? +

With any injection, there is a risk of bleeding, bruising, and infection. A rare, but very serious risk of filler is a vascular occlusion. A vascular occlusion occurs when a blood vessel is blocked with injected filler. This inhibits blood flow, causing tissue on the other side of the clot to lose oxygen. This can cause necrosis, or lead to tissue death.

This is a serious complication, but we do have the ability to reverse a vascular occlusion caused by dermal filler with a medication called Hylenex.

What are the potential side effects of dermal filler injections? +

After filler injections, there may be swelling, bruising, tenderness, firmness, bumps/lumps, and/or tightness.

Who is not a candidate for dermal filler? +

You should not get dermal filler injections if:

  • You have an active infection at the injection site or a bleeding disorder.
  • You have a hypersensitivity or allergy to hyaluronic acid, lidocaine, or gram-positive bacteria.

Please let us know prior to your appointment if you have a history of herpes simplex virus, or cold sores. Injections can reactivate the virus, causing outbreaks. This can be prevented and treated with an antiviral medication.

Please feel free to contact us prior to your treatment with any questions or concerns.

What should I do after my dermal filler appointment? +

You should not:

  • Rub or massage the treated area
  • Exercise within 24 hours of injection
  • Drink alcohol within 12 hours post-injection
  • Take ibuprofen, aspirin, Vitamin E, or fish oil

You may:

  • Ice the area where filler was placed after your appointment
  • Apply makeup once injection sites are healed
  • Take Tylenol, or acetaminophen, for discomfort if needed
Can I combine dermal fillers with other treatments? +

Yes! Dermal fillers pair beautifully with neuromodulators for comprehensive facial rejuvenation, with PRF or PRF EZ Gel for natural volume enhancement and collagen stimulation, and with skincare treatments like BBL or a ZO Skin Health routine to maintain overall skin quality. Your provider will recommend the right combination for your goals at your consultation.
